The world of technology is changing rapidly and the International Telecommunication Union is changing with it. The ITU family is growing and becoming ever more diverse, with both large and small companies active in different sectors of the economy – from energy and cybersecurity to automotive and shipping and logistics. As industries and technologies converge, new market structures, business models, investment strategies and revenue streams emerge, there is a need to strengthen the role of ITU as the leading global platform for transformative technologies such as the Internet of Things, 5G, smart cities, and artificial intelligence, to name a few.
