Outside Plant Technologies for Public Networks
This Handbook gives an insight into the construction and usage of telecommunication cables. Telecommunication cables represent a large investment and provide a vital link in transmitting information. Accordingly, they must be designed to provide a consistent, reliable electrical path while resisting mechanical and environmental conditions imposed during their installation and service life. Good quality materials need to be selected and arranged to meet local conditions and cost objectives.

Coaxial cable fault location with time domain reflectometry
All of the above techniques and instrumentation deal with locating faults in twisted pair cable. The following describes a method of locating coaxial cable faults using a pulse-echo technique. This method offers advantages of accuracy, simplicity and speed in locating cable faults in coaxial cable. These factors are especially important with fault location on cables that are out of service.
