Smart Sustainable Development Model
Report 2016

This report details a strategy to implement the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Smart Sustainable Development Model (SSDM) Initiative. The SSDM was developed in 2012 by the ITU Development Telecommunication Bureau (BDT) to encourage dual-use of ICT for development (ICT4D) and ICT for disaster management (ICT4DM). An SSDM approach could dramatically benefit both sectors in terms of efficiency, cost-effectiveness and sustainability. Moreover, making full use of a combined and dual-use approach has real prospects of saving lives and communities. How to bring this about and deliver the SSDM Initiative is the main objective of this report.
